The Highland County Arts Council is pleased to announce its winter play, Mornings at Seven by Paul Osborn. This is a three-act comedy with parts for five women and four men. One man and woman should be in their late 20s or 30s with the balance being from the mid-50s and up. Auditions for the show were held on December 13 and 16. Public performances will be on March 11, 12, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m. Note change of dates from previous posting! All will take place at The Highland Center in Monterey.
Mornings at Seven has been produced twice on Broadway (in 1980 and 2000) to excellent reviews. The play involves the complicated relationships among four sisters and three husbands. The action begins with the announcement that Idas and Carls son Homer is bringing home his girlfriend of eight years to meet the family for the first time.
Caroline Smith will direct the play. She encourages all interested people to audition, regardless of experience. People should come prepared to read and discuss parts and to understand the time commitment, according to Smith. Its a wonderful process to transform an empty space into a small world and to populate it. Working with adults in this way is a perfect combination of work and pleasure. If you would like to audition and have questions, please call Caroline Smith at 540-499-2879.
