Lucie and Mary Blanchard, daughters of Highland resident Susan Blanchard, have loved art since they were very young. Given the opportunity to show together, they decided to create a show focused on the “still life.”
Painting still life provides exercise in exploring the problems of color, light, and composition. Individual expression comes when the artist takes what she sees beyond what is actually there and adds her own vision. There is room for interpretation as well as manipulation. This central theme gives the show a unified look as well as allowing a direct contrast and comparison of styles.
